CARPING MUST END

United States Warned (7.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Ja.n. 25. Representative George Outland (Democrat, Santa Barbara), on his return from England, appealed for the end of carping over silch issues as England's attitude toward Greece, with a warning that the United States could not have peace without the wholehearted co-operation of England. Representative Outland said that an international alliance was like a marriage. It could not succeed unless petty momentary differences were overlooked in favour of long-range objectives. “We can differ with the English in details, but quibbling must not threaten our mutual welfare.”

Representative Outland added: “I joined in the criticism of Britain's role in the Greek situation, but after learning more of the factors involved, I realise I was guilty of hasty judgment.”
