HESS SPOILT
Angry Over Breakfast LONDON, Dec. 29.
Rudolf Hess is so spoilt and well treated in England that it must be a strong temptation to Hitler and his gang to parachute to Britain and end the whole war in a nice, comfortable way. according to the “News Chronicle.” Hess, who was then number two Nazi, parachuted to England in May. 1941.
In an editorial the “News Chronicle” questions why Hess should have a pleasant life of motoring and sunbathing. It asks why 30 officers must be allocated to guard him, why he gets parole for motoring, why he is permitted to be obstreperous when he thinks he is not getting enough fish for breakfast, and why more is then cooked for him.
The “New Chronicle’s” letter column is entirely devoted to angry citizens, who demand to know whether Hess is a war prisoner or a spoilt State guest, why man-power is being wasted guarding him, and why he is not gaoled in Brixton Prison until the time for his trial.
