PLEASANT VALLEY
Personal Mrs A. Tiplady, who has been the guest of Mrs H. G. Tiplady, has returned to Christchurch. Miss Shirley Holstein. Linwood, who has been the guest of her aunt, Mrs G. F. Bailey, has returned north. Mrs J. Tiplady, Timaru, who has been spending a holiday with Mrs H. G. Tiplady, has returned home. Mr D. Bailey, who has been spending his annual vacation with his parents, has returned to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Morris and family, Timaru, are spending a holiday in Pleasant Valley. Opportunity was taken at the annual prize-giving function of the Pleasant Valley School to make a presentation to Mr G. E. Crotty in recognition of his term of service on the School Committee. The chairman (Mr H. R. Bailey) spoke in eulogistic terms of Mr Crotty’s 16 years of continuous service on the committee. During this time Mr Crotty had held the office of secretary-treasurer for a number of years. He then presented Mr Crotty with a tobacco jar and stud box made from New Zealand woods. After being accorded musical honours, Mr Crotty suitably replied.
