FAIR The following is the forecast for South Canterbury issued by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, for the period ending 5 p.m. to-day:— General Situation A depression in the South Tasman Sea is moving south-east. Forecast Winds. —Moderate to fresh north-easterly to northerly winds. Following are the records taken at Timaru Park for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday with the exception of the maximum temperature and sunshine for the day, which were taken at 7 p.m.: Max. temperature in shade: 6G.4. Min. temperature on grass: 47.8. Wind: 5.2. Rainfall: Nil. Rainfall to date this year: 24.74in5. Rainfall to date last year: 20.45in5. Sunshine: 9.7 hours. Sunshine to date this year: 1765.4hr5. Sunshine to date last year: 1791.1hr5. IN OTHER CENTRES Temuka. —Yesterday was fine with an easterly wind. The maximum temperature was 69 degrees and the minimum 47. The glass was rising last evening. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday).—Barometer, 29.2; thermometer, maximum 77, minimum ,55.2; frost, nil; rain, nil; bright sunshine, 6 hours 12 minutes: wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 70. Yesterday was sunny and warm, but became overcast and cooler in the afternoon.
