FIFTH VICTIM
Aircraft Accident (N.Z.P.A.) AUCKLAND, Oct. 28. Flight Sergeant Archibald Malcolm Alexander, wireless operator and air gunner of the bomber which crashed near Whenuapai, died in the Auckland Hospital at 2.10 this morning as a result of burns and injuries suffered in the crash, in which four others were killed outright. Flight Sergeant Alexander was aged 24, and the husband of Mrs M. H Alexander, 91 Garlands Road, Hillsborough, Christchurch. An inquest was opened this morning Flight Sergeant Alexander, who was 25, enlisted in the R.N.Z.A.F. in June, 1941, and qualified as a wireless operator and air gunner. Before enlistment he was employed in Christchurch. He trained in Canada and returned to New Zealand for duty, subsequently serving, in the torpedo-bomber squadron and later in’the bomber reconnaissance squadron in the Pacific. He married in Canada and his wife arrived in New Zealand recently. His mother is Mrs E. L. Alexander, Christchurch.
