GERALDINE NEW APPOINTMENT
Mr B. F. Hayman Leaves For Christchurch Mr B. F. Hayman, who has been headmaster at the Geraldine District High School for the last three and a half years, has been appointed principal of the Christchurch Intermediate School. Mr Hayman was educated at the Waimate District High School and Canterbury University College. He enlisted in the first N.Z.E.F. from the Christchurch Training College and
served overseas for four years. On his return, Mr Hayman served on the teaching staffs of the Addington, Waltham. Milford, Pareora East and Christchurch Normal Schools. He vsas headmaster at Fairlie from 1935 to 1941, and then cAme to Geraldine. He gained his M.A. in 1926, his Diploma in Education in 1930, and his Diploma in Social Science in 1933.
Personal
Members of the Methodist Church Choir held a social at the residence of the choirmaster (Mi - G. B. Couch) for the purpose of making a presentation to Miss Katie Davis in honour of her approaching marriage. The evening was spent in games, competitions and community singing. Eulogistic references were made to the recipient’s loyal service over a number of years and her usefulness as a member of the choir. The speakers —Rev. F. O. Prosser, Mr G. B. Couch, and Miss Lucy Henry—all conveyed good wishes for her future happiness and prosperity.
