PRISONERS OF WAR
6545 New Zealanders In German Camps (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 21. During the last six months, 193 new prisoners of war have been added to the files of the Prisoners of War Inquiry Office. .Fifty-nine of these are Air Force personnel, 14 Navy personnel, and 120 Army personnel. Fifteen of the Army men were added in the last week. News of a further 12 prisoners known to be in Italian prisoner-of-war camps at the time of the Italian capitulation and whose whereabouts have been unknown came to hand during the week. Eleven of these are in prisoner-of-.war camps in Germany, and the other prisoner has reached Allied lines. Since the capitulation of Italy approximately 3600 prisoners, known to be in Italian prisoner-of-war camps have been accounted for. Of the number, 289 have reached Allied lines and 101 have reached Switzerland. The rest have been transferred to prisoner-of-war camps in Germany. Army personnel now located in German prisoner-of-war camps total 6545.
