FAIR TO FINE The following is the forecast for South Canterbury issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the period ending 5 p.in. to-day:— General Situation A depression, centred just north-west nf Auckland, is slowly tilling up. The maximum temperature was 58 degrees and the minimum 34. Eleven points of rain were recorded. The glass was steady last evening. Waiinate (for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday). —Barometer, 29.4; thermometer, maximum 55, minimum 40; rain, 6 points; bright sunshine, 2 hours; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 129. Yesterdav was sunnv and warm.
