BOWLING TIMAKU WOMEN’S CLUB

The Timaru Women’s Bowling Club officially opened for the season on Thursday afternoon, there being a large attendance of members and visitors.

Tire president, Miss F. Bradley, extended a welcome to old and new members and to the visitors, and expressed a hope that the season would be successful and enjoyable.

Mr J. A. Norrie, president of the Men’s Club, thanked the women for their continued valuable assistance, and wished them a pleasant season. Good wishes were also extended by Mrs A. Purcell, president of the Women’s Bowling Centre, and by the Mayoress, Mrs A. E. S. Hanan. Mrs Hanan threw up the jack, and Mrs Purcell rolled up the first bowl. WEST END LADIES’, CLUB The West End Ladies’ Bowling Club opened its 1944-45 season in perfect weather. The president (Mrs C. Dewar) welcomed visitors and members and wished all present a very enjoyable season. Mrs Purcell, president of the Centre, outlined the activities of the coming season.

The patroness cf the Club (Mrs Clark) officially opened the season by sending up the kitty and Mrs Purcell rolled up the first bowl.
