FLYING BOMBS

Hit On Housing Estate LONDON, October 19. Soldiers were called out to help in rescue work when a flying bomb last night crashed on a housing estate in a town in Southern England. Some houses were destroyed and many others were badly damaged. Guns on the East Coast exploded some flying bombs in mid-air, and night fighters intercepted others and shot them into the sea. London had a brief alert.

Rescue squads working by the light of artillery searchlights dug out a man who was buried beneath 30 tons of debris when a flying bomb fell in a Southern England town last night He was severely injured. He told the rescue crews that there were five other persons in the house. Digging therefore continues.
