MINOR DAMAGE

Fire In C.F.C.A.

Fire broke out in a room on ’the top of the Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative / sociation's premises in Beswick Street last evening. The Timaru Fire Brigade answered a call at 5.30 o'clock but the fire was extinguished by the staff with the fire fighting equipment in the building without assistance from the Brigade. The flames were confined to the loom occupied by the signwriter and caused minor damage to a table and a cupboard.

The fire started in a waste paper basket, a match or cigarette butt being responsible.
