Births in United States The United States birth rate in 1943 exceeded the 3,000.000 mark for the first time in history, according to the Census Bureau. Registered births were 2,935,171, and unregistered were estimated at 3 per cent, of the total, or 88,000. Almost 75 per cent, of the deliveries occurred in hospitals.
