PIGEON RACING
The Timaru Homing Pigeon Society held the first race of the 1944-45 oM bird season in good flying weather from Christchurch. Forty-eight birds were liberated by the stationmaster at 1.20 pm. The first bird to be clocked was A. Parker s Pilot at 3-8-19 pm. Results were: A Parker's Pilot 1475.4 yards per minute 1. W. Torope's Marine 1458.5 yards per minute 2. D. Cullimore s Mealy 1425.3 yards per minute 3. W. Hathaway s Last In 1253.2 yards per minute 4. The Club will hold a race from Oaro, a distance of ISO miles, to-day.
