CHANGEABLE The following is tho forecast for South Canterbury issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the period ending 5 p.m. to-day:— Winds.—Moderate to strong south-west-erly winds. Weather. —Cold and changeable with scattered showers. Aug. 27 at 12.15 a.m. Full Moon Sept. 3 at 8.57 a.m. PLEASANT DAY Although overcast early, yesterday afternoon was bright and sunny. Following are the records taken at Timaru Park tor the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday, with the exception of the maximum temperature and sunshine for the day, which were taken at 7 p.m.;— Max., temperature in shade: 60.6. Min.’•temperature on grass: 40.0. Frost: Nil. Wind: S.W.I. Rainfall: Nil. Rainfall to date this year: 17.0 ins. Rainfall to date last year: 11.82 ins. 1 Sunshine: 4.6 hours. Sunshine to date this year: 1049.2 hrs Sunshinn to date last year: 1142.2hr5. IN OTHER CENTRES Temuka.—Yesterday was sunny with a westerly wind. The maximum temperature was 59 degrees and the minimum 25. Seven degrees of frost were recorded. The glass was rising last evening. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday).—Barometer, 29.4; thermometer, maximum 58.2, minimum 39; frost, 3 degrees; bright sunshine, nil; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 29. Yesterday was sunny and warm.
