Enemy Losses In South-west Pacific (8 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 3. The ratio of Allied to Japanese planes lost in the South-west Pacific during June was one to seven. Enemy planes destroyed during the month numbered 247 for the loss of only 32 Allied aircraft. The enemy planes claimed as probably destroyed were 22. Of the 247 planes definitely destroyed 203 were shot down in combat, and 41 were wrecked on the ground, while three fell to anti-aircraft fire. Japanese shipping losses in the South-west Pacific during June were 126 craft of all types, with three others probably destroyed and 93 damaged. Details of enemy shipping losses reported during the month by General MacArthur’s communique were: Destroyed, five destroyers, 14 merchantmen, 95 barges, 12 small craft; probably destroyed, one destroyer, 10 merchantmen, 17 barges, 14 small craft.
