DEATH OF DIETL
Hitler’s Eulogy (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) LONDON. July 2. Hitler, in an Order of the Day broadcast by Berlin radio, announced the death of General Dietl, Commander of the German forces in Finland, in a flying accident on June 23. “I have lost one of my faithful comrades,” said Hitler. “General Dietl, as a fanatical Nazi, gave his whole being in unchanging faith. I award the hero of Narvik the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords.”
The Stockholm correspondent of the Exchange Telegraph Agency says it is learned that Dietl was killed in Austria while on his way to take up a new command.
