COUNTERFEIT PETROL COUPONS
Alleged Possession (N.Z.P.A.) WHANGAREI, July 1, Speedy action bv the police followed the discovery that counterfeit petrol coupons were in circulation, an announcement concerning- which was made by the Fuel Controller. Donald Lamon aged 31, a salesman, of Auckland was arrested this morning and brought before the Court on charges of being idle and disorderly, with having insufficient lawful means of support and of forging a card of coupons with intent that the same should be acted upon as if genuine. Detective-Sergeant Finlay said Lamon arrived in Whangarei on • Thursday with three other men in a car owned bv one of them. He left a parcel in a hotel office on Thursday night and claimed it early yesterday morning. A parcel, similar to that identified by two hotel porters as having been in the man’s possession, was found to contain 120 cards of petrol coupons. Lamon was remanded till Tuesday on bail of, £250 and two sureties of £250 each.
