FOOTWEAR INDUSTRY
Manufacturers Confer The maintenance of the volume of footwear production at its present level in the light of manpower and material shortages, was discussed at the annual conference of the New Zealand Footwear Manufacturers’ Federation. Specific consideration was given to essential civilian and military production, standard and simplification specifications, and other relevant issues. Mr E. R. Norman (Wellington) was re-elected president, with Mr V. Dearsly (Auckland) as vice-president. The executive is Messrs R. Davenport f Wellington), A. J. O’Brien (Canterbury) and 11. J. Luff iDunedin). The Auckland representative will be elected by manufacturers in that area. During tlie concurrent annual meeting of the New Zealand Boot Manufacturers’ Industrial Union of Employers, Mr Norman was re-elected to the presidency of that organisation, and Messrs Davenport, O’Brien, Luff, E. G. Bridgens and 11. Edwards were elected to the executive. Mr Dearsly was re-elected vice-president.
