UNITED STATES PLEDGE
Liberation Of Philippines
WASHINGTON, June 30. President Roosevelt has signed legislation pledging the United States to drive the Japanese from the Philippines and grant them full independence as soon as normal government functions can be restored. He has also signed legislation for the acquisition of bases adequate for tile mutual protection of the Philippines and the United States. Mr Roosevelt said that this legislation will permit the acquisition of air and land bases as well as naval bases and fuelling stations. This action was very .welcome to the Philippine authorities.
