Farmers’ Union
The question of soil erosion occupied the attention of the Pleasant Point branch of the Farmers’ Union at its annual meeting when it was decided to invite Mr A. J. Davey to explain to members the duties and functions of Catchment Boards and the functions of the Soil Erosion Committee. Mr R. Crombie was in the chair. It was agreed to recommend to the Meat Board that the price schedule for ewes and wethers be increased to encourage farmers to increase the weights of ewe. 4 and wethers.
Reference to the fact that the production programme for this year was not released until it was too late for farmers was made by Mr Ryan, and the secretary was Instructed to take the matter up with the Director of Primary Production. Members were urged to co-operate in every way with Rehabilitation Committees to enable men returned from this war to obtain a reasonable living from the land.

B. Struthers; additional delegates to Provincial Conference, Messrs Ryan and Skinner.
