ALLEGED ALARMIST REPORTS

Protest By Correspondents

SYDNEY, February 25. All British correspondents at Allied Headquarters in North Africa, with one exception, have jointly sent a protest to Mr Churchill against his statement in the House of Commons on Tuesday blaming them for alarmist reports about the Anzio bridgehead, states the London correspondent of the “Sydney Morning Herald.” The protest states: “We object very strongly to the suggestion that w'e have been guilty of sending wrong reports of operations in Italy. We are reporters with battle experience, and are fully aware of the responsible nature of our work. “We have accurately reported the guidance given to us by officials’ statements at Allied Headquarters, and we have confined ourselves to reporting their statements."
