February At Timaru
A rainfall of 6.43 inches on 16 days last month was the heaviest monthly fall since December, 1938, when 6.72 Inches was recorded on 16 days, states the monthly report of the officer in charge of the Timaru Park meteorological observatory (Mr A. W. C. Anderson.) The heaviest fall last month was 2.38 inches on February 9. As an interesting comparison, Mr Anderson gives the total rainfall for October, November and December, 1943, and January, 1944, as 5.25 inches.
The hours of sunshine recorded at the Timaru Park last month totalled 162.2. The maximum daily temperature for the month was 80.4 degrees on February 24, and the minimum, 29.2 degrees, on February 7. The mean temperature was 58.3 degrees.

PROPOSAL TO RESCIND RESOLUTION
Mr C. E. Kerr, one of the representatives of the Levels County ratepayers on the South Canterbury Hospital Board, has given notice of motion to the following effect.—
“Pending more thorough and fuller information in regard to the cost of purchasing residential properties, excavation work and reading, fencing, extra cost of foundations for additions in front of the Timaru Nurses’ Home, and other costs, that the motion passed at the last meeting of the South Canterbury Hospital Board dealing with the report of the Special Committee in connection with the deviation of Queen Street around the Nurses' Home be rescinded.” The notice of motion will be considered at the meeting of the Board on March 21.
