A HEAVY LOSS
Joinery Factory Destroyed
(N.Z.P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 14. A serious fire early this morning destroyed the large joinery factory of the Sash and Door Timber Company, Ltd. The factory was almost completely burnt out. The damage, which is covered by insurance, amounts to several thousands of pounds. A fine save was made by the brigade, which prevented the spread of the fire to the yards, where large quantities of timber were stocked under cover, and also to the adjoining buildings. Fortunately large stocks of joinery made under Government contracts had been completed and dispatched. When the brigade received the alarm the interior of the two-storeyed building was a seething mass of flames. Portions of the roofs of the buildings quickly fell in. Some of the machinery, it is believed, may be reconditioned. •
