New Ordinance In India

NEW DELHI, Jan. 14. Th« Government of India has Issued an ordinance providing that political prisoners cannot be held for more than six months unless the detention order is reviewed and specifically extended. Persons detained will be Informed of the ground for detention, thus enabling them to make representations against the order, for which every facility will be afforded.

About 8000 persons were detained last October, the latest date for which figures are available.
