AUCKLAND DRIVERS
Stop-work Meeting Arranged
SEQUEL TO BUS DISPUTE
(N.Z.P.A.) AUCKLAND, January 12. All transport services operated by members of the recently deregistered Drivers’ Union, within a radius of 25 miles from the Auckland Post Office, will be seriously disrupted on Friday morning, when the men will hold a stop-work meeting. The meeting will open at 9 o’clock and the secretary of the union (Mr L. G. Matthews) said he expected it would finish by 11 o'clock. 1
Not only the bus drivers, who are the centre of the dispute, but all general drivers, whose absence from work will bring many industries to a standstill during those hours, have been called to attend the meeting. “We have decided that, as the matter lias been taken out of our hands, no action can be taken,” said Mr N. B. Spencer, president of the Auckland Omnibus Proprietors’ Association, after u meeting of the bus proprietors.
