ELECTRIC SUPPLY INTERRUPTED
Blow-out At Sub-station
DISTRICT WITHOUT POWER YESTERDAY
When a cable-end box, from the transformer to the South Canterbury Electric Power Board's switch at the Public Works Department’s substation at Grant’s Hill, blew out at 6.20 a.m. yesterday the district was without electricity. A temporary limited supply was available to consumers in the borough of Timaru between 10.45 and 11.45 in the morning to assist cooking and other electrical household amenities. This supply was then switched over to the South Canterbury Board’s area for the benefit of dairy factories and farms. At 2.15 p.m. the supply was cut off altogether and the current was not restored until 4.45 p.m.
