RAPID INCREASE

Typhus Cases In Naples

(8 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 5. A rapid increase in the cases of typhus in Naples last week resulted in new warnings and instructions to the population from high Allied military authorities, says the Naples corresoondent of the Associated Press. The Allied statement says that a real epidemic may begin.

It is known that at least 100 new cases have been found since the figure of 250 was announced 10 days ago. There has not been a single case among Fifth Army personnel. The military dispensaries are crammed with troops receiving inoculations, while Naples is still closed against all troops except those billeted there.
