AUCKLAND HOSPITAL
Matron to Retire Thirty years’ service with the Auckland Hospital Board has been completed by Miss V. M. Cussen, lady superintendent of nursing at the Auckland Hospital and subsidiary institutions whose resignation was received by the Board last week. Miss Cussen said her health was beginning to be affected by the strain of the work, and she asked to be allowed to leave the Board's employment on April 30 riejtt. The Board accepted Miss Cussen’s resignation with regret, as from the date she suggested, and decided to call for applications for her successor, the closing date to be March 16. next. Applications are to be invited in New Zealand, Australia, the Middle East and Great Britain, at a commencing salary of £550 a year, with living in, rising by annual increments of £5O to £7OO. Miss Cussen was for 12 years assistant lady superintendent to Miss E, M. Nutsey. When the latter was appointed to the Second N.Z.E.F.. Miss Cussen was acting lady superintendent for 20 months, being then appointed to the position in June, 1942. She had also been matron of the Waiuku Hospital for five years.
