No Request Made to Australia (Rec. 7.30) MELBOURNE, Nov. 11. No request has been made by any country to the Australian Government for the use of naval and air bases after the war. said the Prime Minister, Mr J. Curtin. Commenting on cabled reports that discussions on Hie use of naval and air bases had begun between Australia, New Zealand and the United States. Mr Curtin said the Commonwealth Government had not been asked to hand over any part of the Commonwealth territories to any other’ country for use as a base, and the matter, therefore, had never been considered by the Government.
