Arowhenua Institute

A decision to contribute an item by delegates from the Arowhenua Maori Women’s Institute at the half-yearly conference of the South Canterbury Federation was made at the September meeting of the Arowhenua Institute. Mrs H. O’Connor presided over a fair attendance of members. A motion of sympathy was passed with the family of the late Mrs Hiria Barrett. Hostesses were Mesdames H. O’Connor and S. H. Palmer. Competitions resulted as follows. — Large bloom, Mrs S. H. Palmer 1, Mrs T. Anglem 2, Miss E. Greaves 3. Small bloom, Mrs T. Anglem 1, Mrs S. H. Palmer 2, Mrs H. O'Connor 3. Bowl of flowers: Mrs A. Barnes 1. Mrs T. Anglem 2, Mesdames S. H. Palmer and J. Beeby (equal) 3. Home-made handkerchief, Mrs S. H. Palmer 1. Mrs J. Beeby 2 and Mrs J. Clinch 3.
