HARRIER ACTIVITIES

(By "Marathon”) Season’s Features September 4: Inter-club sports meeting, Ashbury Park. September 11; Annual inter-club handicap. September 18: Inter-Football Club Athletic Meeting, Ashbury Park. Good Team Work One of the slogans of cross-country racing should be “Good Team Work". This was forcibly demonstrated in the South Island Junior Cross-Country Championship by the members of the Timaru Presbyterian Club. The club was successful in winning the Tweedy Cup, which was being defended by the Civil Service Club, Dunedin. Civil Service held the Cup in 1941 and 1942, but had to be content with third place, Timaru Club filling second place. T. Myers who has run consistently throughout the season had to be content with second place, finishing Imin. 22sec. behind G. C. Nelson (Civil Service, Dunedin). R. McMurray fourth, S. England fifth and J. Smith eighth, completed the winning team. The Timaru, team, Moodie third, Gallagher seventh, Hitchcock ninth and McArthur thirteenth, ran well to take second place in the Teams Race. Playing Fields and Battlefields
