ROLL OF HONOUR

Flying Officer J. Reid Flying Officer John Reid, Royal New Zealand Air Force, who has been reported killed in action, was well known in Waimate. where he was a member of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand. He was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs Stanley G. Reid, formerly of Waimate mow of Wellington), arid brother of Sergeant Gifford H. Reid, R.N.Z.A.F. (overseas). Flying Officer Reid was born at Oamaru on December 20, 1911, and was educated at Oamaru South School and Waitaki Boys’ High School. He entered the employ of the Bank of New Zealand at Waimate in 1927, and served at Timaru, Leeston, Dunedin, Roxburgh and Geraldine and in the Wellington office of the Bank. He was married at Woodbourne aerodrome in March. 1942, to Miss Mura Howell, of Roxburgh, and left for overseas in April of the same year.
