JUNIOR COMPETITIONS The high standard marking the Waimate Junior Competitions Festival was again maintained on Thursday evening, a number of the competitors gaining 85 points. Josephine Friel was awarded 89 points for her rendition of “The Lass With The Delicate Air." This is the highest number of points so far gained by any competitor during the festival. The evening’s programme resulted:— Instrumental:—Piano, sight reading; 12 years and under: Doreen Hayman 1, Patricia O’Hara and Stanley Mills (equal) 2. Piano Duet; 12 years and under: Wilson Mcßae and Grant McRae (78 points) 1. Piano Solo, novice; Colin Bird 1, Ross Leadbetter 2, Brian Chamberlain 3. Elocution:—Test Piece, 13 to 14 years: June Scott (83 points) 1. Rosa Hardie (80) 2. Leona Snuker (78) 3.
