TIMARU TELEPHONE DIRECTORY
Supplementary List Issued Comprising 12 pages and listing 355 subscribers, the Timaru supplementary telephone directory compiled for the South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce. with the permission of the Post and Telegranh Department, will Drove most useful to members of the business community and the public generally. Owing to the restrictions on the use of Daner due to the war an official directory has not been issued since August. 1941, and since that time there have been numerous additions and alterations in the list of subscribers. The proposal urging publication of a new directory was made by the Chamber of Commerce some months ago. but the Post and Telegraph Department could not entertain the idea. The Chamber made further representations and finally received permission to issue a supplementary list. The Chief Postmaster (Mr C. W. Browne), members of his staff, and Mr P. W. Young co-operated in the compilation of the list whi :h was typed and duplicated by Mr Young’s office staff. It is proposed to issue further additions and alterations in the Chamber of Commerce notices each month.
