AIR FORCE TRAINEES IN CANADA
Defence Minister’s Tour of Inspection iN.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON. June 27. A message from a special correspondent at Ottawa, under date Juno 26, states that the New Zealand Minister of Defence <the Hon. F. Jones» has been greatly impressed with the ingenious apparatus installed in various Canadian stations established under the air training plan. He has also been impressed by the high standard of accommodation and recreational facilities for the trainees. He has found that station commanders are men of good type who show the keenest interest in the welfare of their pupils. The weather has interfered with Mr Jones’s itinerary, but in the last seven days ho has covered almost 4000 miles by plane. He has visited nine widely separated centres at which there are New Zealanders. At one of these 210 men paraded. The commanding officers expressed the utmost satisfaction with the high standard reached by lhe New Zealand trainees. Mr Jones is continuing <is tour and will visit, other stations where New Zealanders arc located.
