MANY HITS SCORED

Japanese Installations .On Kiska RUGBY. March 18. A United States Navy communique states: In the North Pacific on March 16, United States Navy aircraft carried out attacks on Japanese installations on Kiska in the Aleutians. In the morning Liberator heavy bombers and Mitchell medium bombers, supported by Lightnings, bombed the main camp area and submarine base. Hits were observed on both target areas. Early in the afternoon eight Lightnings engaged eight enemy aeroplanes in the vicinity of Kiska. Three enemy aeroplanes were shot down and two were probably destroyed. Later in the afternoon Liberators, Mitchells and Lightnings again attacked the enemy submarine base and other installations. A large fire was started in the camp area. Still later the same afternoon a group of Mitchells again attacked and scored bomb hits on the submarine base.
