"The Democratic Party majority on Ihe United States House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee favours a tax collection plan simil r to Australia's.” says the Washington correspondent of the "Nc York Times.” "It is proposing the deduction of 20 per cent, of earnings at their source from July 1, for the payment of 1942 taxes. The committee voted down all plans to ‘forgive* 1942 taxes. However, the Republicans intended to move in the House for consideration of the wiping out of the 1942 tax liability.
