FEMALE FREEZING EMPLOYEES (N.Z.P.A.) AUCKLAND. Jan. 28. “There is a deal of absenteeism among the 450 girls employed at the Westfield Freezing Company’s works, 100 being away daily,” said Mr E. K. Baxter, for the company, when he appeared before the Industrial Manpower Committee to-day to oppose an appeal by a married woman for the termination of her employment at the works to which she went a year ago. "Absenteeism, is always most marked on Saturday mornings,” added Mr Baxter. Tire committee adjourned the appeal for three months.
