Mr K. Anderson, presided over a meeting of the Patriotic Social Committee. The matter of holding a social in honour of a Fairlie soldier, Private B. Welsh, was discussed and it was agreed that a function be held. It was stated that the recent socials held, in the form of a combined euchre party and dance, had been very successful, and it was decided to continue with this type of function. Tire following sub-committecs were appointed:--Music, Messrs J. Irving and F. Miles; doorkeeper. Mr W. G. Black; cards, Mr W. Borland; supper and decorations. Mesdames D. Jeune, T. McKenzie. W. Bourn, J. Crichton, W. Surridge, W. G. Clark and J. Siegert. DAMAGE AT DOMAIN It has been reported to the Domain Board that damage has recently been done to trees, and other property in the Domain. Trees have been broken, and even the tree recently planted by his Excellency, Sir Cyril Ncwall. has been interfered with. Boys are suspected as being responsible and a warning has been issued that drastic action will be taken against any person causing damage.

The Domain at present is in very fine order and is used during the warm weather by many people who find much pleasure in the cool surroundings. Wanton damage such as has frequently taken place there is resented very much by residents who are interested in this beauty spot of the township.
