LARGE STOCKS HELD

Marketing Of Oat Crops “The marketing of this season’s oats crops is causing merchants some concern, particularly as a good few thousand sacks of last season’s crop are still in store, and for which there is no market at present,” said a member of the South Canterbury representative of the “Timaru Herald” yesterday. “These oats were purchased at the price set by the Government, but an outlet has not been found for them,” he continued, “and, consequently, the merchant has had to carry the baby. “One large miller has informed local merchants that his firm will not be buying this season as their requirements are already filled. Storage space is very limited, and farmers will be well advised to stack as the demand for sacks would then be eased.”
