TWO PLANES MISSING

Naval Men and Diplomats Aboard (11.50 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 24. The Navy announced that RearAdmiral Robert English, Commander of the Pacific Fleet Submarine Force, also nine other important naval officers in the Pacific area, in addition to a Navy nurse, are among the 19 aboard a naval plane which is missing on a flight between Pearl Harbour and San Francisco. Radio contact abruptly stopped as the plane circled the San Francisco Bay area, when groping iii a fog for a place to land. An intensive sea and air search has been made without avail.

Rescue parties have plunged into the mountains of Southern Peru seeking a plane which is missing between Santiago and Lima, with 15 passengers aboard, including two members of the British Diplomatic Service.
