University Units Suggested (N.ZJ’.A.) DUNEDIN, Jan. 21. The Senate of the University of New Zealand has adjourned. Among the concluding business adopted was a suggestion that the Senate ask the authorities to consider the advisability of establishing In each University College military units consisting of male students between the ages of 18 and 21, and that the Army authorities be asked to post to a university unit in which they might continue their studies combined with military training. Questions relating to the lodging of appeals against military service on behalf of students with special excellence were discussed in committee. On the motion of Dr. Newlands, it was resolved that the matter be referred to the full executive committee of the Senate, with power to act, and that it be recommended that only the most exceptional cases be considered.
