GOEBBELS PROVIDES A CHUCKLE

Rommel Lets Him Down

LONDON, January 12. A bright story is revealed In reports from North Africa.

When Rommel invaded Egyot and seemed likely to reach the Nile. Dr. Goebbels, the Nazi propoganda chief, had a film prepared showing the Axis forces sweeping on to Cairo and Alexandria and crossing the Suez Canal.

Copies of the film were distributed to all occupied countries for exhibition as soon as Egypt should be in Axis hands. Rommel's force was smashed at El Alainein and commenced its 1000 mile headlong retreat. Goebbels waited long enough to be sure that Rommel was really routed and then called in all copies of thefllm. A copy sent to Algeria was overlooked. It has now come into British hands and will shortly be exhibited in London.
