A welcome to Mr S. G. Crerar. who has returned from the Middle East, was extended by Mr H. H. Fraser, president of the South Canterbury Swimming Centre, at a meeting of the executive last evening. “We are proud of the number of our boys who have done good work in the Middle East," said Mr Fraser. “It is our endeavour to keep competitive swimming alive at home while they are away and their names are often mentioned.” He hoped Mr Crerar would continue his interest in the sport. Assuring members of his continued enthusiasm, Mr Crerar said that former South Canterbury swimmers overseas continued their participation in the sport. He mentioned the name of Alf. Waters whom, he said, was in championship class in the Middle East.
