MAILS TOO BULKY
Restrictions Imposed
<8 p.m. i WASHINGTON, Jan. 9. Mr H. Stimson, Secretary of War, to-day announced new restrictions on parcels to soldiers. He said that from January 15 not package may be dispatched to a soldier overseas unless it contains an article requested by the soldier and approved by his commander. No package will be accepted unless a written request bearing the commander's approval is presented. Magazines anti newspajjers may lx* mailed only by publishers and only 11 the soldier is a subscriber. I letters will continue to be welcomed by the Army. The new regulations were adopted when a survey disclosed that (he mail sent overseas in November was equivalent to the capacity of three liberty ships. Tf it continued it would require 25 ships Io carry the mail this year.
