X-RAY WORK
American Assistance
As the result of a generous offer of assistance to the Auckland Hospital from two radiologists attached to the United States medical services In New Zealand members of the staff of the radiology department of the hospital are being enabled to take short periods of leave, which otherwise would have been impossible. Tlie Americans who have placed their services at the disposal of the medical superintendent of the Auckland Hospital, Dr. C. B. Gil? berd, are Major M. D'Amico and Lieutenant R. J. Littwin. They have been engaged at the hospital for two weeks and are expected to remain for several more weeks. Owing to the necessity of making many thousands of extra chest radiological examinations of men called up for military service, the X-ray department has had a particularly strenuous year, and. as over-exposure to X-rays due to too constant work involves a decided risk to the health of staff, the relief given by yie two American medical officers Is much appreciated. Similarly in Wellington, visiting American radiologists have placed themselves at the disposal of the public hospital.
