U.S. PRODUCTION

Output For This Year

(Rec. 8.30) WASHINGTON, Jan. 3. The Army, Navy and War Production Boards' have issued a joint statement that the revised inter-graded programme for 1943 aimed to double the war output of 1942. Major features of the programme are that twice the number and four times the weight of planes built in 1942 will be produced in 1943. Furthermore, the production of merchant shipping will be more than doubled, and a considerable increase in naval combat vessels will enable the Allies to carry the fight to the enemy fleet’s bases. The statement concludes that the increase in war output "provides a lean but henlthy civilian economy."
