OFFENCES BY SALESMAN Total Of £543 Involved Three charges of failing to account for sums totalling £543/17/- to Walter Lambourne, Limited, were preferred against a furniture salesman, John Hartland Pearson, aged 32 (Mr Buisson). before Mr J. Morllng S.M., at Auckland. Evidence was given that on August 12 accused, who was employed by Lamboume’s, failed to account for £5O paid to the firm by Daisy Maude White; between July 30 and November 16 failed to account for £462/17- received from Eileen Eppie Hamilton and others; and on July 10 failed to account for £3O/10/- received from Keith Byerley. The managing-director of the firm, Allan Lambourne said that accused was employed in April at £5/12'6 a week as a dispatch clerk, but was later made a furniture salesman at £6/5/- a week. He was in a position of trust and handled large amounts of money. Tire amount not accounted for was involved in 16 different transactions. Accused had since paid in £63/15/- to the firm. Accused, who pleaded guilty, was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
