COTTAGES WRECKED
Plane Crashes On Village LONDON, October 6. Eight persons were killed, two are missing, and a number were injured when a British aeroplane crashed last night into the middle of Somersham. a village in Huntingdonshire, wrecking six cottages and damaging others. When the aeroplane got into difficulties the crew baled out and landed safely. The clash caused a tremendous fire which was visible for miles. Firemen, Home Guards, soldiers and airmen joined in the work of rescuing and recovering bodies from the debris. The aeroplane cut off the roof of one house, but the occupants downstairs escaped. It then went straight through another house and crashed into a cottage on the opposite side of the street.
