Wilson reported that he had received greetings for Presbytery from Chaplain R. J. Griffiths, who is now a prisoner of war in Germany. In his letter, Mr Griffiths . reported that he was in good health 1 and was actively engaged as a chaplain. Mr Wilson reported also that a ' young woman residing in the Timaru j district had offered her services as a student for the ministry in the Presbyterian Church. Presbyterv resolved to send her its congratulations. The Rev. M. W. Wilson was unanimously elected Moderator, and the Rev. A. McNeur was thanked for his services. In reply to Presbytery’s invitation to the Right Rev. John Davie. Moderator of the General Assembly, to visit the Timaru Presbytery, Mr Davie said he might be able to do so in November when on tour in connection with the camnaign of Christian Order. The Rev. W. R. Lapsley reported progress in connection with the annual retreat. The Moderator especially em- > phasised the fact that the retreat isi planned as much for elders as for 1 ministers, and hoped that elders would ! avail themselves of this opportunity I for fellowship, devotion, discussion and study. It was reported that the Rev. W. R. McD. Hay had been ordained and inducted to the Albury Charge on De- j cember 16. Mr Hay was welcomed as i a member of the Presbytery. The Rev. A. F. Sutherland reported that Professor Collie had been recalled to the Chair of New Testament in the Theological Hall. Dunedin. Thus, once more, the charge of Waimate finds itself without a minister.
